Festivals and competitions offer students an exciting opportunity to showcase their talent, gain performance experience and grow in confidence. They encourage commitment, teamwork, and resilience; skills that benefit young performers both on and off the stage. These events involve performing prepared pieces in front of an audience and an adjudicator, who provides feedback and, in some cases, awards or scores. Whether competitive or not, they create a valuable platform for learning, growth, and artistic expression

Our APA Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Competition Teams take part in festivals and competitions across the South West throughout the year. Our talented students consistently achieve 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in a wide range of categories, including solos, duets, trios, and group performances. Their successes span across lyrical, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, song and dance, ballet, singing, and acting.

Why Take Part in Festivals and Competitions?

Competing also allows students to:

  • Receive constructive feedback from experienced adjudicators

  • Work towards clear goals and push their personal best

  • Build confidence through performing for new audiences

  • Celebrate their progress with peers in a supportive, creative environment

  • Develop professionalism in rehearsal, preparation, and performance

At Apollo Performance Academy, we believe these experiences help shape well-rounded, passionate performers who take pride in their work and support one another every step of the way.

Some of the festivals we take part in, include: Longwell Green Performing Arts Festival, Move It Shake It, Perform Festival Newbury, Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival, RWBAF, Wales & West Festival of Theatre Dance, Didcot Festival and the Wiltshire Festival of Dance.
